About Courtney Colyer, PT, DPT, NCS.

I received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Baylor University and my clinical training was completed at Norman Fixel Neurological Institute in Gainesville, FL. Following this I pursued specialized Neurological Certification giving me the skills and knowledge to go above and behind for those with neurological difficulties. After several years of experience, I was not satisfied with the traditional model of PT. Rewire was born in my love for those who experience the debilitating symptoms of a neurological diseases. My mission is to guide my patients back to the beauty of movement and refuel their confidence despite their  limitations. Throughout all the loss and frustration, there is hope.

Neurological Diseases are complex and in order to treat them effectively a full comprehensive approach is needed. For this reason I do not accept any insurance as Rewire values patient outcomes over insurance requirements. My approach involves a thorough 1.5 -2 hour initial assessment where I examine you as person, not a diagnosis, going through each part of your body.  This is followed by tailored treatment approaches that are designed to fit you and your needs. Research shows us that the biggest improvements are made in the environment  you live in and for that reason I am mobile. If you have a hard time at home, at the grocery store, outdoors, etc our treatment will be there. Rehab shouldn't stop in the gym; at Rewire rehab fits into your life.

When I first came to Courtney, I was struggling with life-long hypermobility and chronic upper body tension following a neck injury. From the get go, she took the time to understand my complex situation and fine-tuned every session to my needs. Her positive attitude was contagious and her tailored exercises led me back on the path to recovery. I can't recommend Courtney enough.

What Makes Us Different & Why We Don't Accept Insurance

  • Holistic Care

Neurological diseases wreak havoc on all the systems of the body, not just movement. Unfortunately insurance companies limit traditional PT's to treating just one part of the body.  If I am only allowed to look at the leaves of the tree, I have to disregard the foundational roots that allow it to thrive. Similarly if I only get to treat the superficial movement symptoms, but never the underlying deeper connections, progress will always be limited.

  • Prevention

Insurance companies want us to wait until patients face debilitating symptoms. This leaves us constantly chasing the symptoms trying to regain what is lost. The solution? Start at the first sign of symptoms, get ahead of it, and thats where you'll find true change.

  • Intensity & Timing

Insurance dictates how often patients are seen and whether PT's can make changes to that plan which inherently makes treatment about their paycheck and not patient needs. Intensity and timing are the key to transforming the nervous system. In order to make true meaningful change, we needed to be in control of how often you are seen and for how long based on you individual needs and impairments.

Intensive Program

If you have a neurological disease then you know how exhausting it can be. Appointments after appointments every day and fatigue that feels almost unbearable. Going to PT 2x a week for months isn't always the most effective or efficient. Research shows the benefits of focused intense work for 1 week can make meaningful change.  This is often followed up with our maintenance plan.

Standard Program

For those who want a more traditional approach with consistent supervision. This plan includes 2x a week and is a great start point that then can be transitioned to a maintenance or consultative program.

Self-Sufficient Program

This is a great option for those with hypermobile disorders, post concussive syndrome or those who have a good understanding of what to do but need occasional re-direction, education, and assurance. It includes one in person visit with 2 telehealth sessions per month.

Maintenance Program

This is designed for those who have already gone through one of my other programs and have built a good foundation. My recommendation is to pair it with one intensive session every 3-6 months. This package includes one in person session to update the home exercise program and review questions.

Consultative Program

This package is for those who have all the tools they need to succeed but are lacking that communication from other providers and need questions answered as they process their diagnosis and proceed in the journey. This package includes 1 in person session a month and unlimited text and call communication.
